      THS-515 Product Data Sheet

    Product Description

THS-515 Colloidal Silica is an alkaline, aqueous dispersion of colloidal silica with a silica (SiO2) content of approximately 13-15% by weight and an average particle size ranging from 3 to 5 nm. The silica dispersion is sodium stabilized, with a pH value ranging from 10.8 to 11.5. The physical appearance of THS-515 is a clear liquid, slightly more viscous than water.

    Applications

THS-515 is a specialist product specifically designed for use where colloidal silica can function as a flocculant or retention aid. THS-515 helps improve the retention properties of pulp and facilitates the rapid removal of water in the papermaking process. Improved pulp retention enhances the strength of the final paper products, while enhanced drainage aids in increasing production efficiency. and exceptional cost-effectiveness for various applications. It is commonly used as a binder or surface modifier across a wide range of industries.

Additional information can be found in SDS.

    Safety & Handling

Review the corresponding Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling. Colloidal silica is a synthetic amorphous silica dispersed in a stable form in water. Colloidal silica is not classified as harmful but mildly irritating. Protective gloves should always be used before handling and the use of protective glasses is strongly recommended. In case of skin or eye contact, wash / rinse the area with plenty of water and seek professional medical help if needed.

Additional information can be found in SDS.

    Certifications

Manufactured in ISO 9001 and 14001 certified facilities.

    Physical Properties:

Colorless amorphous (i.e., fused silica) or crystalline (i.e., quartz) material having a low thermal expansion coefficient and excellent optical transmittance in far UV. Silica is insoluble in strong mineral acids and alkalis except HF, concentrated H3PO4, NH4HF2, concentrated alkali metal hydroxides. Owing to its good corrosion resistance to liquid metals such as Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, Ga, In, Tl, Rb, Bi, and Cd, it is used as crucible container for melting these metals, while silica is readily attacked in an inert atmosphere by molten metals such as Li, Na, K Mg, and Al. Quartz crystals are piezoelectric and pyroelectric. Maximum service temperature 1090°C.
