Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. The product has good antibacterial action against enterobacteriaceae bacteria such as Staphylococcus (methicillin-sensitive strains), Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, etc., but poor activity against streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus in each group. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, anaerobic bacteria and other drug resistant to this product. The bacteria had partial or complete cross-resistance to streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin and gentamicin. Systemic administration of neomycin has significant nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, so it is limited to oral or topical use.
