What is N, N-Dimethylacetamide/Dmac/Dimethyl Acetamide?

N, n-dimethylacetamide, also known as Dimethyl Acetamide, acetyl dimethylamine, referred to as DMAC, is an aprotic highly polar solvent, with a slight ammonia odor, strong solubility, a wide range of soluble substances, can be miscible with water, aromatic compounds, esters, ketones, alcohols, ethers, benzene and trichloromethane, and can activate the compound molecules. Therefore, it is widely used as a solvent and catalyst. As a solvent with high boiling point, high flash point, high thermal stability and chemical stability, it can be used as a drawing solvent of polyacrylonitrile, synthetic resin and natural resin, vinyl formate, vinylpyridine and other copolymers and aromatic carboxylic acids. In terms of catalyst, it can be used in the process of urea heating cyanuric acid, reaction of alkane halide with metal cyanide to nitrile, reaction of sodium acetylene with alkane halide to alkylene, reaction of organic halide with cyanate to isocyanate, etc. N, N-dimethylacetamide can also be used as electrolytic solvent and photochromatics solvent, paint remover, organic synthetic raw materials, pesticides and pharmaceutical raw materials.

1. It is used as a raw material for synthetic fibers and an excellent polar solvent for organic synthesis; for organic synthesis, it is also used as a solvent, catalyst and paint remover;

DMAC is mainly used as a solvent for synthetic fibers (acrylonitrile) and polyurethane spinning and synthetic polyamide resins, and is also used as an extractive distillation solvent for separating styrene from C8 fractions, and is widely used in polymer films; coatings and pharmaceuticals etc. At present, it is widely used in medicine and pesticide to synthesize antibiotics and pesticides.
