Usage suggestions:

Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate can be used as fertilizer. When used as fertilizer for plants, it temporarily increases the pH of the soil, but after prolonged nitrification treatment, soil treated with ammonium dihydrogen phosphate becomes more acidic than before. Due to the conversion of ammonium to ammonia in highly alkaline environments, ammonium dihydrogen phosphate is incompatible with bases. The average pH of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate solution is 7.5-8.

Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate can also be used as a flame retardant. It reduces the combustion temperature of the material, lowers the maximum weight loss rate, and increases residue. These properties can be used to extinguish wildfires, as lowering the pyrolysis temperature and increasing the amount of coke formed can reduce the amount of available fuel and may form fire lanes. It is the largest ingredient in some popular commercial firefighting products and also a component of "flame retardant" cigarettes.

Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate can also be used as a yeast nutrient in brewing and honey wine, an additive in certain brands of cigarettes (reportedly nicotine enhancer), to prevent match afterglow, purify sugar, solder flux for soldering tin, copper, zinc, and brass, and to control the precipitation of colloidal dyes soluble in alkali but insoluble in acid on wool.
