It is used to synthesize organotin polymer resin, and to produce antifouling agent, fumigant, fungicide and algicide for ship paint.

Use for RoHS, coatings, inks, preservatives, anti-rust production methods Tin and chlorine gas reaction synthesis of tin tetrachloride, and then with chlorbutane and magnesium metal reaction to produce tributyl tin chloride. Di-tributyltin oxide is then prepared by treating it with sodium hydroxide.
