Product Detail

Sodium sulfide (Na2S) is an inorganic salt with the chemical formula Na2S, usually in the form of Na2S-9H2O nonahydrate. Both the anhydrous and nonaqueous forms are colorless and soluble solids that are strongly alkaline when hydrolyzed in aqueous solution. When exposed to air, sodium sulfide emits a toxic hydrogen sulfide gas with the odor of rotten eggs. Sodium sulfide is also known as stinky soda, stinky soda, yellow soda, sulfuric soda. Sodium sulfide is an inorganic compound, pure sodium sulfide is a colorless crystalline powder. It is highly hygroscopic and easily soluble in water. The aqueous solution is strongly alkaline reaction. Industrial sodium sulfide contains impurities and its color is pink, brownish red, earthy yellow.
