Physical Properties: This product is a white to off - white powder, odorless or with a slight characteristic odor, basically tasteless, insoluble in water, alkalis, acids and organic solvents. It has hygroscopicity and adsorptivity, swells immediately after encountering water but does not form a hydrogel; after losing water, the molecular chains extend, and the volume increases rapidly, generating swelling pressure that can make tablets disintegrate rapidly.

This product has complexation properties like soluble povidone. It can form complexes with compounds containing hydroxyl, carbonyl and amino groups, thereby changing the solubility, odor, toxicity and other physical and chemical properties of these compounds.

Applications:

The size of crosslinked povidone particles strongly affects the disintegration of antipyretic and analgesic tablets. Larger crosslinked povidone particles can exert a faster disintegration effect than smaller ones. Crosslinked povidone is a very excellent disintegrant. Generally, a dosage of 1 - 2% in tablets can achieve the disintegration effect of other commonly used ordinary disintegrants, and it is called a super disintegrant.

It can also be used as a dry binder, filler and shaping agent for tablets, capsules and granules. Smaller particle sizes can reduce the defects of tablet surfaces in compressed tablets and improve the uniformity of tablets. The usual dosage is 20 - 80 mg per tablet.

It can be used as a clarifying agent and stabilizer for beer, fruit wine and fruit juice in the brewing and beverage industries.
