Chemical Properties

Bendazol HCl has the chemical formula C₁₄H₁₃ClN₂ and a molecular weight of approximately 244.72 g/mol. Its chemical name is 1-Benzyl-2-phenylimidazole hydrochloride. It appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and chloroform, and stable under normal storage conditions. It is sensitive to strong acids and bases, and its structure may decompose when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.

Pharmacological Effects

1. Vasodilatory effect

It acts on the vascular smooth muscle, relaxing the blood vessels and expanding the peripheral blood vessels, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. It was once used clinically for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension, especially suitable for patients with hypertension accompanied by coronary heart disease.
