Cocamide DEA is a nonionic surfactant produced by the reaction of natural coconut oil and diethanolamine. It possesses excellent foaming, thickening, and foam-stabilizing properties. Widely used in daily chemical products such as shampoos, shower gels, and dishwashing liquids, it improves foam fineness and viscosity, enhancing the user experience. It also exhibits good emulsifying, dispersing, and antistatic properties, and is bio-based with high biodegradability, making it suitable for environmentally friendly formulation systems.

It is readily soluble in water and possesses excellent foaming, foam stabilizing, penetrating, detergency, and hard water resistance properties. As a nonionic surfactant, it exhibits a particularly pronounced thickening effect when combined with anionic surfactants in acidic conditions. It is compatible with a variety of surfactants. It enhances cleaning performance and can be used as an additive, foam stabilizer, and foaming agent, primarily in the manufacture of shampoos and liquid detergents. It forms an opaque mist-like solution in water, which becomes completely transparent upon stirring. It is completely soluble in various surfactants at different concentrations, and is also completely soluble in both low-carbon and high-carbon solutions.

Coconut diethanolamide is a mixture of amines. Amines are chemical bases. They neutralize acids to form salts plus water. These acid-base reactions are exothermic. The amount of heat that is evolved per mole of amine in a neutralization is largely independent of the strength of the amine as a base. Amines may be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. Flammable gaseous hydrogen is generated by amines in combination with strong reducing agents, such as hydrides.
