Kbf4 98% Potassium Tetrafluoroborate inorganic salt flux

Potassium tetrafluoroborate (CAS 14075-53-7), also known as potassium fluoroborate, is an inorganic salt with the molecular formula KBF₄ and a molecular weight of 125.90. It appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder, with a melting point around 530°C and a density of 2.505 g/mL at 25°C. The product is typically supplied at ≥98% or ≥99% purity for industrial applications.

Potassium tetrafluoroborate is used as a flux in welding and brazing, particularly for aluminum and magnesium alloys; as an abrasive component in thermosetting resin grinding wheels; as a raw material for boron-containing alloys in aluminum-magnesium casting; and as an intermediate for the preparation of boron trifluoride and other fluoride salts. It is also employed in electroplating and surface treatment formulations.

The product is moderately soluble in water (approximately 4.4 g/L at 20°C) and should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area with containers kept tightly closed and protected from moisture. It is incompatible with strong metals and may decompose on prolonged exposure to water or moisture, releasing fluoride-containing fumes. Standard packaging is 25 kg net per bag or drum, with 10 kg and custom packaging available upon request.
