Product Overview
Tannic acid is a naturally occurring polyphenol (gallotannin) widely distributed in plants, especially in gallnuts, oak bark, and tea. Tannic acid is a mixture of polygalloyl glucose esters and is widely used as a reference standard in the tanning, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

Synthetic Process
Tannic acid is obtained from natural plant sources through solvent extraction followed by purification. Reference-grade material is further purified by precipitation and drying to achieve high purity.

Mechanism of Action
As a polyphenol, Tannic acid exhibits strong antioxidant properties by scavenging free radicals and chelating metal ions.
