【Description】
Propylene Glycol is a colorless, clear, viscous liquid, odorless, slightly hygroscopic, with a mild sweet taste. It is a dihydric alcohol (aliphatic alcohol) containing two hydroxyl groups, possessing both hydrophilic and lipophilic characteristics with excellent solubility. It is freely miscible with water, ethanol, acetone, chloroform, and other organic solvents. It is one of the most widely used basic chemical raw materials, produced by high-temperature, high-pressure hydrolysis of propylene oxide with excess water.

【Main Applications】

• Cosmetics Industry: As a humectant, solvent, solubilizer, viscosity decreasing agent, skin conditioning agent, and penetration enhancer, widely used in creams, serums, lotions, masks, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, perfumes, and color cosmetics. Propylene glycol offers a refreshing, non-greasy skin feel and is an ideal moisturizing alternative to glycerin.

• Pharmaceutical Industry: Used as a pharmaceutical solvent, plasticizer, and drug stabilizer in injections, oral liquids, topical ointments, and eye drops; also used as a solvent and excipient in various ointments and salves.

• Food Industry: Used as a food emulsifier and an excellent solvent for flavorings and food colors; used in cakes, bread, dairy products, beverages, and flavors/fragrances for moisturizing, anti-caking, and preservative carrier functions.

• Industrial Applications: Used as a raw material for unsaturated polyester resins, epoxy resins, and polyurethane resins; as a raw material for antifreeze, anti-freeze agents, plasticizers, surfactants, emulsifiers, and demulsifiers; also used in tobacco humectants, mildew preventives, fruit ripening preservatives, and coating film-forming aids.
