Product Overview
Ethyl acetate is a colorless, flammable liquid with a characteristic fruity odor. It is supplied at ≥99.7% purity and is widely used as an industrial solvent in coatings, adhesives, inks, and nail polish removers. Ethyl acetate is a key raw material for producing various chemicals and is also used as a flavoring agent in food.

Synthetic Process
Ethyl acetate is produced industrially by the esterification of ethanol with acetic acid in the presence of an acid catalyst, or by the Tishchenko reaction of acetaldehyde. The crude product is purified by distillation to achieve ≥99.7% purity.

Mechanism of Action
As an ester solvent, ethyl acetate dissolves a wide range of resins, polymers, and oils. Its moderate evaporation rate and pleasant odor make it suitable for use in coatings and consumer products. In chemical synthesis, it serves as a reaction medium and a precursor for various derivatives.
