Product Overview
Nicotinic acid (niacin, vitamin B3) is a water-soluble vitamin and a precursor of NAD⁺/NADP⁺. It is supplied as a high-purity reference standard (HPLC≥98%) for biochemical and pharmacological research.

Synthetic Process
Nicotinic acid is produced industrially by the oxidation of 3-picoline or by the hydrolysis of 3-cyanopyridine, followed by purification.

Mechanism of Action
As a precursor of NAD⁺/NADP⁺, nicotinic acid participates in redox reactions essential for cellular metabolism. It also acts as a GPR109A agonist, inhibiting adipocyte lipolysis and reducing hepatic VLDL secretion, which underlies its lipid-lowering effects.
