Description

Piribedil is a dopamine D2 receptor (D2R) agonist which also displays antagonist property at hα1A-adrenoceptor (hα1A-AR).


2-[4-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-ylmethyl)-1-piperazinyl]pyrimidine is a N-arylpiperazine.|Piribedil has been investigated in Parkinson's Disease.|A dopamine D2 agonist. It is used in the treatment of parkinson disease, particularly for alleviation of tremor. It has also been used for circulatory disorders and in other applications as a D2 agonist.

Piribedil is an antiparkisonian agent that acts as a dopamine agonist. Piribedil also displays α2-adrenergic antagonist properties. Piribedil has also been shown to counteract age-related memory impairment by improving memory and attention as well as increasing the velocity of psychomotor reactions and lability of nervous processes.
