Description

Indobufen is a platelet aggregation inhibitor. Indobufen is a reversible platelet cyclooxygenase (Cox) activity inhibitor. Indobufen suppresses thromboxane A2 (TxA2) synthesis. Indobufen down-regulates tissue factor (TF) in monocytes[1].

Indobufen is a member of isoindoles.|Indobufen has been used in trials studying the supportive care and prevention of Atrial Fibrillation.

Drug Information

Drugs or agents which antagonize or impair any mechanism leading to blood platelet aggregation, whether during the phases of activation and shape change or following the dense-granule release reaction and stimulation of the prostaglandin-thromboxane system. (See all compounds classified as Platelet Aggregation Inhibitors.)|Compounds or agents that combine with cyclooxygenase (PROSTAGLANDIN-ENDOPEROXIDE SYNTHASES) and thereby prevent its substrate-enzyme combination with arachidonic acid and the formation of eicosanoids, prostaglandins, and thromboxanes. Drug Function and Efficacy

It can inhibit the release of some platelet activating factors (such as ADP, 5-HT, platelet factor 4, β-platelet protein, etc.) and affect arachidonic acid metabolism to resist platelet aggregation, but it does not affect the blood concentration of PGI2. It has no effect on various parameters of blood coagulation, but can moderately prolong bleeding time, which can be restored after stopping the drug.
