Description

5-methyl-1-phenyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1H-2,5-benzoxazocine is a member of the class of benzoxazocines that is 3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1H-2,5-benzoxazocine substituted by phenyl and methyl groups at positions 1 and 5 respectively. It is a benzoxazocine and a tertiary amino compound.|Nefopam is under investigation for the prevention of Cholecystitis and Post Anaesthetic Shivering. Nefopam has been investigated for the prevention of Kidney Transplantation.|Non-narcotic analgesic chemically similar to ORPHENADRINE. Its mechanism of action is unclear. 2-[[N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-N-methyl]amine]methyldiphenyl is prepared by reacting 2-benzoylbenzoic acid with thionyl chloride and then reacting with 2-methylaminoethanol Methanol is heated together with p-toluenesulfonic acid and benzene to steam benzene, and the resulting oily substance is alkalized to obtain the nefopam base.
