Description
It is milk-white viscous liquid and is non-volatile and odorless. It has a relative density of O.98~1.02. Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane Use and Manufacturing
1. Polymethylsiloxane and fumed silica mixed roll into a silicone grease, then add polyoxyethylene alcohol, Tween 80 and deionized water and other emulsified.
2. Dimethyl dichlorosilane, water, solvent as raw materials, by hydrolysis, neutralization, fractionation to get octamethyl cyclotetrasiloxane. Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane in the catalyst under the action of polymerization in the system.
3. There are two kinds of acid balance method and alkali balance method. Acid balance method is suitable for the production of low viscosity silicone oil with a kinematic viscosity of less than 500mm2 / s. The method is usually used as the catalyst in concentrated sulfuric acid, reacted at 50 ~ 50 ℃, then washed with acid, de-boiling, Finished product. The alkali balance law is suitable for the production of kinematic viscosity above 100mm2 / s, high viscosity silicone oil. It is also possible to synthesize methyl silicone oil by using the method of temperature control at 90 ~ 120 ℃ using dimethyl mixed ring and decamethyltetrasiloxane as raw materials and tetramethylammonium hydroxide as catalyst. The conversion rate can be increased from an average of 65% to 80% or more.

PDMS is the most widely used silicon-based organic polymer, and is particularly known for its unusual rheological (or flow) properties. PDMS is optically clear, and, in general, inert, non-toxic, and non-flammable. It is also called dimethicone and is one of several types of silicone oil (polymerized siloxane). Its applications range from contact lenses and medical devices to elastomers; it is also present in shampoos (as dimethicone makes hair shiny and slippery), food (antifoaming agent), caulking, lubricants, kinetic sand, and heat-resistant tiles.
