4,7-Phenanthroline-5,6-dione Use and Manufacturing
O-acetamido anisole is nitrated, reduced, and hydrolyzed to form 2, 5-diamino anisole sulfate, which is then heated to react with glycerin and concentrated sulfuric acid in the presence of iodine and potassium iodide to form 6-methoxy- 4, 7-phenanthroline is further oxidized to obtain a finished product.
This product is an anti-amebic dysentery and bacillary dysentery drug.
