Castor oil appears as pale-yellow or almost colorless transparent viscous liquid with a faint mild odor and nauseating taste. Density 0.95 g / cm3. A mixture of glycerides, chiefly ricinolein (the glyceride of ricinoleic acid) .

Used in the production of sebacic acid, cold-resistant plasticizers, lubricants, spices, penetrants and emulsifiers used in the textile industry; used in the preparation of laxatives and zinc preparations; leather fatliquors. Preparation of sulfated castor oil. Extender and brightener for leather finishing.
