Description

ChEBI: The methyl ester of bensulfuron. An acetolactate synthase inhibitor, it is used as a herbicide for the control of a variety of both annual and perennial weeds in crops, particularly wheat and rice. It is not licensed for use within the UK.


Bensulfuron-methyl is the methyl ester of bensulfuron. An acetolactate synthase inhibitor, it is used as a herbicide for the control of a variety of both annual and perennial weeds in crops, particularly wheat and rice. It is not licensed for use within the UK. It has a role as a herbicide, an agrochemical and an EC 2.2.1.6 (acetolactate synthase) inhibitor. It is a N-sulfonylurea, a member of pyrimidines, a methyl ester and an aromatic ether. It derives from a bensulfuron.

Bensulfuron-methyl Use and Manufacturing

Uses

Bensulfuron methyl is a selective systemic conductive herbicide in rice fields, also known as Nongdeshi, rice without grass, and farming. It has low toxicity to humans and animals and low toxicity to fish, birds and bees. Bensulfuron methyl was used to control sedge and broad-leaved weeds in rice fields, and has been used to control broad-leaved weeds in wheat fields. The medicament can be quickly diffused in the Water of Chemicalbook, absorbed by the weed roots and leaves and transferred to various parts, hindering the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids. It is used in rice fields to control annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds, sedge weeds, and has poor effects on gramineous weeds. It is safe for wheat, rice and other crops.

Bensulfuron-methyl has known environmental transformation products that include 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine.
