Methods of Manufacturing

The preparation method is to add anhydrous ether and lithium aluminum hydride into a three-necked flask, and slowly add 2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropionic acid and anhydrous ether solution under stirring, about 3h After that, stir for 2h at room temperature, add ethyl acetate dropwise, react for 15min after dropwise, add 2mol/L sulfuric acid dropwise, separate the layers, wash the ether layer with 10% sodium hydroxide, then wash with water, dry, and remove under reduced pressure Ether is the product.

Uses

2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropanol is an intermediate of pyrethroid pyrethroids.

Environmental transformation -> Pesticide transformation products (metabolite, successor)

PENA is a known environmental transformation product of Etofenprox.
