Cinnamoyl chloride Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

From sodium cinnamate and oxalyl chloride reaction. Dissolve oxalyl chloride and benzene into a solution, and add the dried sodium cinnamate multiple times with stirring from time to time. Each time it is added, carbon dioxide is released after the reaction and then the next time. Then reflux for 2h. After a little cooling, the generated sodium chloride and traces of unreacted sodium cinnamate are filtered off. The filtrate is first distilled off benzene under normal pressure, and then distilled under reduced pressure to collect 131 ℃ (1.47kPa) fractions, that is, the product is obtained, the yield is 75-90%. When purification is required, carbon tetrachloride can be used for recrystallization. The reaction of cinnamic acid with dichlorosulfoxide produces cinnamoyl chloride.
