NBT(Nitro BT;p-Nitrotetrazolium blue) is a substrate for dehydrogenases; is used with the alkaline phosphatase substrate 5-Bromo- 4-Chloro-3-Indolyl Phosphate (BCIP) in western blotting and immunohistological staining procedures.
Nitro blue tetrazolium dichloride is an organic chloride salt having nitro blue tetrazolium(2+) as the counterion. It contains a nitro blue tetrazolium(2+).|Colorless to yellow dye that is reducible to blue or black formazan crystals by certain cells; formerly used to distinguish between nonbacterial and bacterial diseases, the latter causing neutrophils to reduce the dye; used to confirm diagnosis of chronic granulomatous disease.

Nitro Blue Tetrazolium Use and Manufacturing
Substrates for dehydrogenases and other peroxidases. It is used to determine glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase; it is also a precipitation reagent for clotting factor I (fibrinogen). It is also one of the substrates of alkaline phosphatase, which produces an insoluble blue product under the catalysis of alkaline phosphatase. Commonly used in immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC) and Western blot (WB) experiments.
