1-Bromo-2-naphthol Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Derived from 2-naphthol bromination. Add ethanol to the reaction pot, add 2-naphthol, stir to dissolve, cool to 15°C and add bromine, keep the temperature at about 15°C, add it in 2-3h, and stir for 10min. At the same time pass sulfur dioxide to saturation. Put the reaction material into the crystallization tank, add water to precipitate crystals. Filter, wash with water to pH 6-7, and dry to obtain bromonaphthol with a yield of over 90%.

Uses

Dye intermediate; used in organic synthesis. This product is also an anthelmintic drug used for hookworm infections.
