Description

Monoethanolamine is a clear, colorless or pale yellow-colored, moderately viscous liquid with a mild, ammoniacal odor. Colorless to yellow liquid Ethanolamines can be detected by odor as lowas 23 ppm. Monoethanolamine is a colorless, viscous liquid or solid (below 111C) with an unpleasant, ammonialike odorChEBI: A member of the class of ethanolamines that is ethane with an amino substituent at C-1 and a hydroxy substituent at C-2, making it both a primary amine and a primary alcohol. ethanol

Ethanolamine Use and Manufacturing

Used as a gas chromatography stationary liquid and solvent; GB2760-96 stipulates as an allowable processing aid for the food industry. Monoethanolamine is mainly used as a plasticizer, vulcanizing agent, accelerator and foaming agent for synthetic resins and rubber, as well as intermediates for pesticides, medicines and dyes. It is also a raw material for synthetic detergents and cosmetic emulsifiers. In the textile industry, it is used as a whitening agent, antistatic agent, mothproofing agent, and detergent for printing and dyeing. It can also be used as carbon dioxide absorbent, printing ink auxiliary, petroleum additive. Monoethanolamine is widely used as a purification liquid to extract acidic components from various gases (such as natural gas). Cyclization and neutralization of monoethanolamine hydrochloride can produce piperazine hexahydrate. Monoethanolamine hydrochloride is chlorinated by thionyl chloride and then replaced by sodium thiosulfate to obtain β-aminoethyl thiosulfate. This is a dye intermediate used to produce polycondensation turquoise blue 13G. The reaction of monoethanolamine and carbon disulfide can produce intermediate thiothiazoline which is useful in rubber and pharmaceutical industries.
