Description

ChEBI: A methoxybenzoic acid that is O-methylsalicylic acid substituted by chloro groups at positions 3 and 6.Dicamba is a benzoic acid derivative used as a broad-spectrum herbicide. Dicamba can be used to control the annual and perennial rose weeds in grain crops and highlands, to control brush and bracken in pastures as well as legumes and cacti. Dicamba Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

2, 5-Dichlorophenol is prepared by the reaction of 1, 2, 4-trichlorobenzene and CH3OH/NaOH. Then it reacts with CO2 under a certain pressure to produce 2-hydroxy-3, 6-dichlorobenzoic acid, and then reacts with (CH3)2SO4 to synthesize dicamba.

Uses

Selective, systemic preemergence and postemergence herbicide used to control both annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds, chickweed, mayweed and bindweed in cereals and other related crops.
