Description
Tulathromycin A is a macrolide antibiotic.IC50 Value: 1 microg/ml (MIC90 for Pasteurella multocida) [2]Target: Antibacterialin vitro: Two highly pathogenic strains of M. bovis (with minimum inhibitory concentration values for tulathromycin of 1 and >64 microg/ml) were inoculated into 145 calves. Four days after inoculation, calves with clinical BRD were treated subcutaneously with saline or tulathromycin (2.5 mg/kg). Compared with saline, BRD-related withdrawals, peak rectal temperatures
Tulathromycin A is an aminoglycoside.|Tulathromycin is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat bovine respiratory disease in cattle and swine respiratory disease in pigs. It is marketed by Pfizer Inc. under the tradename Draxxin.
Tulathromycin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic of the sub-class triamilide. It occurs as a white to off-white crystalline powder that is readily soluble in water at pH less than 8. At a pH of 7.4 (physiological pH), tulathromycin (a weak base) is 50 times more soluble in hydrophilic than hydrophobic media.

Drug Information
Cattle: Treatment and metaphylaxis of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma bovis sensitive to tulathromycin. The presence of the disease in the herd should be established before metaphylactic treatment.Treatment of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) associated with Moraxella bovis sensitive to tulathromycin.Pigs: Treatment and metaphylaxis of swine respiratory disease (SRD) associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis and Bordetella bronchiseptica sensitive to tulathromycin. The presence of the disease in the herd should be established before metaphylactic treatment. Draxxin should only be used if pigs are expected to develop the disease within 2–3 days.Sheep: Treatment of the early stages of infectious pododermatitis (foot rot) associated with virulent Dichelobacter nodosus requiring systemic treatment.|Cattle: Treatment and metaphylaxis of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma bovis susceptible to tulathromycin. tulathromycin
Tulathromycin A Use and Manufacturing
Triamilide antibiotic for treatment of bovine and porcine respiratory disease. Exists as an equilibrium mixture of two isomeric forms, Tulathromycin A (90%) and B (10%). Antibacterial.
Tulathromycin A is used for the treatment of pulmonary diseases in pigs and cattle. In cattle, tulathromycin is used for the treatment of rinderpest caused by Haemolytic rinderpest, polyvalent rinderpest and Haemophilus somnus (formerly Haemophilus somnus). It is also effective in the treatment of infections caused by Mycoplasma bovis. When used in high-risk calves, it is also used to prevent infections caused by these pathogens. It is also used for the treatment of bovine foot rot (interdigital necrotizing fungal disease) associated with Fusarium necrophorum and Fusarium oxysporum. A single dose is effective in bovine infectious keratoconjunctivitis (Mycobacterium bovis). In pigs, it is used to control and treat SRD associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bacteroides multilocularis, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Haemophilus parasiticus, and tulathromycin has been used to treat lung abscesses.
