Use foam, water spray, dry powder, carbon dioxide.

Explosive limits , vol% in air: 2.0-8.6

Personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and vapours adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Collect leaking liquid in sealable plastic containers. Carefully collect remainder. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

Ventilation along the floor. Store only in original container. Store in an area without drain or sewer access. Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing.

A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20 °C; on spraying or dispersing, however, much faster.

The substance is irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract.

NO open flames. Above 91 °C use a closed system and ventilation.

Use ventilation or local exhaust.

Protective gloves.

Wear safety spectacles.

Toxicity

moderately toxic

2-Chlorobenzyl chloride Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The preparation method is to mix o-chlorotoluene and phosphorus trichloride in a reactor, pass chlorine gas at 130-140°C until the relative density of the reaction liquid reaches 1.20-1.22, and then fractionate to obtain the product. It is also possible to use azobisisobutyronitrile as a catalyst, and chlorinate o-chlorotoluene with chlorine in a solvent to prepare the product.

Uses

It is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide with contact and stomach toxicity, broad insecticidal spectrum, rapid knockdown, and long-lasting effect. It is used to prevent and control pests such as pear and pear psyllids. Very good killing effect, can also effectively control some underground pests, and have a refusal effect on some adults
