Description

o-Toluidine (ortho-toluidine) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C7H9N.o-Toluidine is primarily used in the manufacture of dyes. o-Toluidine is highly toxic to humans when absorbed through the skin, inhaled as vapor, or swallowed. Acute (short-term) exposure of humans to o-toluidine affects the blood (i.e., methemoglobinemia), with clinical signs of central nervous system depression. The chronic (long-term) effects in workers exposed to o-toluidine include anemia, anorexia, weight

O-toluidine (ortho-toluidine) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C7H9N. This arylamine is a colorless to pale-yellow liquid with a poor solubility in water.

o-Toluidine Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The preparation method is prepared by catalytic hydrogenation reduction of o-nitrotoluene. Due to the different hydrogenation catalysts, the reaction conditions are different. For example, a copper catalyst is used and the reaction temperature is 260°C, and a nickel catalyst can also be used.

Uses

Used in the production of dye products such as date red base GBC, scarlet base G, red base RL, naphthol ASD, acid pink 3B, basic magenta and basic pink T, as well as pesticides insecticidal amidine, saccharin, vulcanization accelerator, Beneficiation agent toluene arsenic acid, etc.
