Vitamin prices soar, supply is tight

ECHEMI 2020-04-16

The spread of the global epidemic has affected the supply side, and many varieties of vitamins have risen in price. Among them, vitamin D3 products have received much market attention recently. According to data from Zhuo Chuang Information, the market price of vitamin D3 on April 15 was 350-450 yuan / kg, an increase of 255 yuan / kg from the beginning of the year, and the increase was as high as 268%.

The industry believes that the production of gelatin, one of the raw materials, caused a phased out of stock due to the overseas epidemic, which is one of the reasons for the obvious short-term price increase of vitamin D3. On the whole, the price of vitamins in the future still depends on the development of the global epidemic. There is still room for short-term prices to rise. It is expected that the supply and demand will remain tight during the year, and the profits of vitamin raw material manufacturers, especially leading companies, will increase significantly. For vitamin health products and pharmaceuticals, it depends on whether the price increase of finished products can sufficiently cover the price increase of raw materials, and the impact on the performance of related listed companies depends on the subsequent fundamentals and supply and demand.

Price surge

Since the beginning of the year, many varieties of vitamins have risen in price. The vitamin A market price on April 15 was 550-580 yuan / kg, an increase of 240 yuan / kg from the beginning of the year, and the largest increase was 77%; the vitamin E market price was 78-90 yuan / kg, an increase of 30 yuan / kg from the beginning of the year, the largest increase 63%; the market price of vitamin C is 32-38 yuan / kg, up 11 yuan / kg from the beginning of the year, the largest increase is more than 50%; the market price of vitamin D3 is 350-450 yuan / kg, up 255 yuan / kg from the beginning of the year, the highest increase Up to 268%.

Zhuo Chuang Information analyst Wang Lin said that the price increase of many vitamin varieties was mainly due to the impact of global public health events, which led to tightening of supply. At the same time, due to concerns about subsequent supply, some manufacturers and traders are reluctant to sell, and prices are generally bullish in the short term. The demand side is stable. The price increase is mainly due to changes in the supply side.
