1. According to Argentine media on October 23, from January to August 2022, Argentine agricultural exports reached 39.549 billion US dollars, setting a record for the same period. Despite a variety of internal and external headwind factors for agricultural development in Afghanistan, the industry remains resilient, with total agricultural exports expected to reach $55 billion in 2022. Agricultural exports accounted for more than 66 percent of the country's total exports, totaling 223.827 billion US dollars in the past five years.
2. According to Japan Agricultural news on October 20, in the first half of this year, Japan's food exports amounted to 578.8 billion yen (about 27.91 billion yuan), up 18.2% year-on-year. Among them, exports to China accounted for the largest proportion, 134.2 billion yen (about 6.574 billion yuan), up 32.1% year on year. Exports to ASEAN countries were 101.3 billion yen (about 4.963 billion yuan), up 24.4% year on year; Exports to the United States were 87.9 billion yen (about 4.306 billion yuan), up 20.3 percent year on year. Japan's food imports reached 4.935 trillion yen (241.764 billion yuan), up 29.6 percent year-on-year.

According to the Economic Times of India on October 21, the implementation of India's rice export ban has triggered a rise in global rice prices by more than 10%, with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization's global rice price index rising by 2.2% in September, hitting an 18-month high. Global demand is expected to exceed production in 2022/2023, which is bad for rice-dependent countries in Asia and Africa, some of which import more than 60% of their total demand.
4. According to the news of the Australian newspaper on October 24, Australia has formally signed the global emission reduction commitment advocated by the United States to reduce methane emissions by 30% within 10 years. Australia's livestock sector accounts for 48% of the country's total methane emissions and 25% of its total greenhouse gas emissions. The government has promised not to impose new taxes or regulations on agriculture and not to reduce farm production or livestock numbers. The Australian government will spend A $3 billion (13.8 billion yuan) of the A $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund to support methane emissions reduction in agriculture.
5. Datagro, a Brazilian agricultural consultancy, predicts that Brazil's sugar exports will reach 30 million tons in 2022-2023, which will be more than half of the total global sugar trade of 57 million tons. The climate in Brazil's sugarcane producing regions is favorable and yields are expected to exceed the average of recent years.
