FDA extends comment period for general principles of food standards
Recently, according to the US Federal Gazette, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued document 2020-08182 to extend the consultation period on general principles of food standards.
In 2005, the US FDA and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) jointly issued a plan to establish a set of general principles for the US FDA to use when considering whether to establish, revise or cancel food standards. On February 20, 2020, the US FDA solicited opinions on this. The comment period is now extended. The deadline for submitting comments is July 20, 2020.
