Titanium Dioxide Market Inched Down in Jan 2018

ECHEMI 2018-02-01

The Chinese rutile titanium dioxide market moved marginally in January 2018. Titanium concentrate prices remained stable. Sulphur prices fluctuated down, which weighed on the sulfuric acid market. Producers held stable offers and most downstream users showed a wait-and-see position. Amid the thin buying interest, the overall trading in the Chinese rutile titanium dioxide market was flat. Up to January 30, 2018, mainstream negotiation prices were in the range of RMB 15,500-17,800/mt.

The Chinese anatase Titanium Dioxide market moved stably. Influenced by the off-season, the operating rate in the downstream industry was low. The demand for anatase titanium dioxide was tepid. Up to January 30, 2018, reference prices for anatase titanium dioxide were in the range of RMB 13,000-14,800/mt.

Forecast

In the short term, prices of raw materials will remain largely stable. Chinese and foreign producers tend to raise the prices, which will support the market. It is predicted that the Chinese Titanium Dioxide market may inch up in February.
