Brazil revises the Standard Regulation on Special Foods for Weight Control Purposes

On November 9, 2022, the Brazilian Official Gazette published Announcements No. 442482683 and No. 442503628 to revise the standard regulations for special foods for weight control 。 The main contents include: (1) the supplementary stipulates that completely replacing dietary diet diet foods should be highlighted in bold on the main display surface of the label, and the warning words "should be consumed under the supervision and guidance of a doctor and/or dietitian"; (2) Publish a new version of the basic ingredient requirements of food for weight control, such as the energy value of some alternative dietary diet diet foods should be 200-400kcal/serving, the energy value of completely replaced dietary diet diet foods should be 800-1200kcal/portion (all in ready-to-eat state), and the product cannot add sucrose, fructose or glucose. The amendment is effective as of the date of publication.
