Lithuania announces new regulations on alcoholic beverages
On 8 December 2022, the Lithuanian State Veterinary Food Agency (VMVT) issued Notice 2022-25043 amending the Law on Alcohol Control. The main contents include: (1) modify the definition of composite packaging; (2) Alcoholic beverages in the category of beer, fermented beverages and alcoholic cocktails with an alcohol concentration of more than 6% are packed in containers of more than 0.2L, except those packed in glass, ceramic, wooden or metal containers. Naturally fermented fruit and/or berry wines and fruit and/or berry wine drinks with an alcohol concentration of more than 6% May also be packaged in plastic containers, compound packaging or compound packaging of up to 3.5 litres. The law goes into effect on January 1, 2023.
