Xiantao flash explosion caused the price of silane crosslinking agent to soar!
After the explosion of Xiantao on August 3, the supply of silane cross-linking agent was tight, and the price soared. The price of silicone rubber took advantage of the trend!
The Emergency Management Department of Hubei Province issued a notice on the flash explosion incident in Xiantao Lanhua Silicone Co., Ltd. The report stated that at around 17:30 on August 3, a flash explosion occurred in the methyl tributanone oxime silane workshop of Lanhua Organosilicon Co., Ltd., Xiliuhe Town, Xiantao City, causing 6 deaths and 4 injuries. According to preliminary analysis, the direct cause of the accident was that the operator did not fully identify the risks when cleaning up the liquid accumulation in the stratified tower and did not strictly follow the parking safety regulations.
After the accident, Lanhua Silicone Co., Ltd. has completely stopped production for rectification. At the same time, related enterprises around Hubei were also affected. For example, Hubei Leading Chemical Co., Ltd., a silane production company also located in Xiantao, also stopped work for rectification.
Lanhua Silicone Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Hubei New Lantian Co., Ltd. New Blue Sky is the most important silane crosslinking agent manufacturer in China, and it has a pivotal position in the domestic crosslinking agent supply market. Since the accident, the domestic supply of silane crosslinking agents has been in short supply, leading to soaring prices. The ketoxime crosslinking agent has risen by more than 15,000/ton, and methyltrimethoxysilane has increased from 7,000 CNY/ton to 12,000 CNY/ton.
Silane crosslinking agents are mainly used in the synthesis of room temperature silicone rubber (RTV). In one-component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, three cross-linking agents of acid type, ketoxime type and alcohol type are widely used. In practical applications, several cross-linking agents are often used in combination to improve product performance. The amount of cross-linking agent used in the acid type glue is about 10%, the ketoxime type is generally 8%, and the alcohol type is less than 5%, but the ratio is related to the manufacturer's formula. The price increase of the ketoxime crosslinker due to the accident is expected to have a certain impact on the price of ketoxime silicone rubber.
