Chen Wei's team obtained China's first covid-19 vaccine patent

The covid-19 vaccine patent application jointly filed by Academician Chen Wei of the Academy of Military Medical Research of the Academy of Military Sciences and Cansino Bio has been granted the patent right and is the first covid-19 vaccine patent in China.

On August 16th, according to the State Intellectual Property Office, the new crown vaccine patent application jointly filed by the team of Academician Chen Wei of the Academy of Military Medical Research of the Academy of Military Sciences and Cansino Biosciences has been granted patent rights. This is China's first new crown vaccine patent.

The application name of the vaccine is "a recombinant new coronavirus vaccine using human replication-deficient adenovirus as a vector", which is the adenovirus vector vaccine (Ad5-nCoV vaccine) developed by the team of Academician Chen Wei.

According to the patent abstract, this invention provides a new coronavirus vaccine based on human type 5 replication-deficient adenovirus. The vaccine has good immunogenicity in mice and guinea pig models, and can induce the body to produce strong cellular and humoral immune responses in a short time. In addition, the vaccine is quick and easy to prepare, and can be mass-produced in a short period of time to respond to sudden outbreaks.

In order to fight the epidemic, Academician Chen Wei led a team to develop a recombinant new crown vaccine, which was the first to enter Phase I and Phase II clinical trials at home and abroad, verifying the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccine. The Phase III international clinical trial of the vaccine is progressing in an orderly manner.
