Saint-Gobain Acquires Irish Pharmaceutical Business

Saint-Gobain's Performance Plastics Life Sciences business in Solon has acquired the pharmaceutical business of Micro Hydraulics Ltd., a Dublin-based supplier and manufacturer of single-use components and systems for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.

Terms were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of the Micro Hydraulics Pharma business is a continuation of our long term strategy to expand our service and product offerings while increasing our localized presence for our customers," said Steve Maddox, general manager of the Saint-Gobain Life Sciences business, in a news release. "We're excited to preserve and build upon the exceptional service model that the Micro team has created, while leveraging our World Class Manufacturing and Quality Systems to bring an enhanced value offering to our customers in the region."

Micro Hydraulics was founded in 1982. In 2005, it created its pharmaceutical division to focus on that emerging industry in Ireland. Today, it is one of the region's "leading providers of single-use fluid handling solutions for high purity applications in pharmaceutical and bioprocessing industries," according to the release. The hydraulic and industrial divisions of the business are not affected by the transaction.

Saint-Gobain Life Science operates out of 19 manufacturing locations across the globe.
