Saint-Gobain Makes Construction Chemicals Acquisitions in Canada, Italy, and Peru
Saint-Gobain has strengthened its construction chemicals platform with two acquisitions, securing key technologies that will be expanded across the Group: Interstar Materials in North America and Isoltech in Italy; and Soquimic, a local company in Peru, strengthening Saint-Gobain's presence in this high-growth market.
Interstar Materials is a leading North American manufacturer of high-performance pigments for all concrete applications, including ready-mix and precast concrete. Founded in 1987, the company has two plants in Canada (Quebec and Alberta) and one in the United States (Illinois).
Concrete coloring is increasingly popular among architects and contractors, and granular pigments offer numerous advantages over liquid or powdered pigments: they produce more vibrant colors, are easy to transport and store, are easy to handle without temperature restrictions, and are more environmentally friendly. Interstar will enrich Saint-Gobain's offerings to meet the growing demand for decorative concrete solutions for facades, floors, and architectural elements, and will benefit from the Group's strong presence in North American construction chemicals.
Isoltech is an Italian additive manufacturer specializing in foamed concrete technology for producing lightweight concrete. Founded in 1987, the company has a production plant in Verderino, northern Italy. Its solutions are widely recognized for their superior thermal and acoustic insulation, fire resistance, recyclability, breathability, and water resistance. Isoltech serves the ready-mix concrete, precast concrete, and mortar markets.
Soquimic is a leading manufacturer of concrete admixtures in Peru. Founded in 2013, the company has two plants in Lulín, near Lima, and Arequipa, southern Peru. Following the 2021 acquisition of Z Aditivos, a supplier of cement additives, this acquisition will enrich Saint-Gobain's solution offerings, accelerate its growth in Peru, and complement Weber's product lines for tile adhesives and exterior plasters.
Interstar, Isoltech, and Soquimic have revenues of approximately €25 million. The three companies will benefit from Chryso's expertise, innovation and R&D capabilities to support customers in developing low-carbon materials, and leverage Saint-Gobain's global footprint to expand their product portfolio and market value proposition.
