India: Danao Focussing on Imparting Water Management Skills to Youth
Pune-based Danao Industrial Training Academy (www.ditacademy.net) is focussing on imparting skills in water treatment and management to youth as it looks to address wide gaps in skilled manpower requirements in these areas.
Founded by chemical engineer, Dr. Sanjay Danao, the institute imparts a gamut of skills – from business counselling to potential entrepreneurs and training youth to become technically competent – through German based pedagogy, applying principles of Multiple Intelligence, with focus on project based learning and hands-on experience.
The institute imparts training services to youth to work as Plant Operator, Plant Mechanic or Laboratory Assistant. The training courses in water treatment offered include:
>Basic course in water treatment (water purification and wastewater); Duration: 8 weeks; Eligibility: SSC.
>Advanced course in water treatment (water purification and wastewater); Duration: 4 weeks; Eligibility: HSC/Basic Course/1-year relevant experience.
>Basic course for lab assistant; Duration: 4 weeks; Eligibility: HSC/ basic course/1-year relevant experience.
>Training courses under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – customised to the requirement of water industry professionals.
>The institute also offers other services in water treatment, including:
>Operation and maintenance of water treatment plants (STP, ETP, WTP, etc.);
>Repair and maintenance of reverse osmosis (RO) systems and water softeners;
>Laboratory services for water testing;
>Supply of ‘zero maintenance’ novel equipment, Cavitator, to reduce COD by 15-20%; and
>Supply of chlorine dioxide for multiple uses.
