Hansen acquires HMO manufacturer Jennewein
Hansen recently announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire HMO producer Jennewein Biotechnologie for EUR 310 million, officially entering the human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) market.
It is reported that Hansen will acquire all shares of Jennewein through the transaction, which is in line with Hansen’s 2025 strategy to expand and strengthen its microbial and fermentation technology platform through acquisitions.
Hansen pointed out that functional ingredients such as HMO and probiotics are leading the infant formula optimization market.
It is reported that the transaction will be completed this month, and HMO will operate independently as a business under the health and nutrition division of Hansen. After the transaction is completed, Hansen will invest 200 million euros in production assets, including a parcel plant, to increase HMO production capacity by 2025.
