More than 20 new test varieties of herbicides are expected to seize the market

ECHEMI 2020-09-27

Compared with other types of products, herbicide registration has the fastest growth rate, the most production and sales, the strongest application demand, the largest export proportion, and the highest foreign exchange earning capacity.

The herbicides registered in my country are mainly single agents, with low safety risk, environmentally friendly, relatively concentrated crops, and rich variety structure. As of December 31, 2019, there were more than 41,200 registered pesticide products (including sanitary drug products) in China, involving more than 1,900 companies. Among them, fungicides accounted for 26.3%, insecticides accounted for 38.3%, herbicides accounted for 25.8%, plant growth regulators accounted for 2.4%, sanitary insecticides accounted for 6.7%, and rodenticides accounted for 0.4%. Recently, Li Xianbin, deputy director of the Pharmacodynamics Evaluation Division of the Institute of Pesticide Inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, introduced the current status and new requirements of my country's Herbicide registration products at the "8th Herbicide Technology Conference".

Among the top 20 registered pesticides, there are 6 herbicides, namely: Glyphosate (1,217), atrazine (972), nicosulfuron (708), acetochlor (665) ), glufosinate-AMMONIUM (602), bensulfuron-methyl (597).

In my country's approximately 1.5 million tons of pesticide production (100%), herbicides account for 65.75%, insecticides 20.22%, fungicides 12.36%, plant growth regulators 1.4%, and others 0.28%. In 2019, among the 263,000 tons of pesticides used in my country, the use of herbicides was 99,000 tons, accounting for 37.6%; the use of pesticides was 77,000 tons, accounting for 29.3%; the use of fungicides was 65,000 tons, accounting for 24.7%.

Among the herbicide formulations, emulsifiable concentrates accounted for 22.9%, aqueous formulations accounted for 19.2%, wettable powders accounted for 15.9%, dispersible oil suspensions accounted for 13.9%, suspensions accounted for 7.3%, water dispersible granules accounted for 4.7%, suspension Emulsion, soluble granules and water emulsion each accounted for 3.0%, soluble powder accounted for 2.6%, microemulsion accounted for 1.6%, and others accounted for 2.7%.

The top ten registered crops for herbicides are: rice field (3,069), corn field (2,166), soybean field (1,547), non-arable land (1,355), wheat field (1,320), citrus orchard (470) , Rape fields (414), peanut fields (337), cotton fields (285), sugarcane fields (254).

The top 20 species with single herbicide registration number are: glyphosate (salt) (1,142), glufosinate (540), nicosulfuron (296), quizalofop (287), Acetochlor (285), Cyhalofop-butyl (251), Atrazine (197), Trisulfuron (191), Penoxsulam (179), Mesotrione (172) ), fomesafen (162), pendimethalin (158), clodinafop-propargyl (158), high-efficiency fluroxypyr (150), clethodim (144), diquat (138 pcs), fluroxypyr (ester) (137 pcs), 2-methyl-4-chloro (salt, ester) (133 pcs), bispyribac (122 pcs), butachlor (118 pcs).

The newly added herbicide varieties in the past two years include: flufenazone, sulcotrione, chlorsulfentrazone, formamidosulfuron-methyl, glufosinate ammonium salt, trifentrazone, dichloroquinoline Flufenazone, penoxazone, oxoxalic acid, ciclofenac, buthirone, sulfonepyrazole, flufentrazone, fentrazone, flufentrazone, iodobenzonitrile caprylate.

At the meeting, Deputy Director Li Xianbin introduced the herbicide varieties currently being tested in my country.

Among them, the new varieties tested in paddy fields include: prafentrazone (HPPD inhibitor), flufenacet (carotenoid synthesis inhibitor), cyclofenazone (ACCase inhibitor), and cyprofen (fatty acid synthesis) Inhibitor, combined with acyl-ACP thioesterase, inhibits the growth of meristems), acetochlor (ACCase inhibitor), flufenacil (ALS inhibitor).

New test varieties in wheat fields include: chlorofluoropyrimidine ester (hormonal herbicide), clethodim (very long-chain fatty acid inhibitor), prosulfochlor (lipid synthesis inhibitor), and aclofen (carotenoid synthesis inhibitor) Agent).

The new varieties tested in the corn field include: fentrazone-ethyl (HPPD inhibitor), cyclosulfone (HPPD inhibitor), and octanoyl iodobenzonitrile (photosynthetic photosynthetic system II inhibitor).

New test varieties for non-arable land include: fenflufen (PPO inhibitor), flumetrazone (PPO inhibitor), flumetsulam (PPO inhibitor), and flufenacet (hormonal herbicide).

Other new tested varieties include: tertalin (photosynthesis photosynthetic system Ⅱ inhibitor) in sugar cane field, caprylic acid in citrus orchard (used as a food additive in my country, caprylic acid can dissolve the horny layer of the leaf surface and destroy the integrity of the cell plasma membrane, causing Plant leaves wilt and die), quinazone (HPPD inhibitor) in sorghum fields, inazinazine and fluroxypyr in orchards, and fluroxypyr (photosynthesis photosynthetic system II inhibitor) in cotton fields.
