Firmenich biotechnology and natural extraction pilot plant opened!
On September 30, local time, Firmenich announced the opening of a new biotechnology and natural extraction pilot plant and laboratory in Geneva.
Equipped with the latest digital technology, the plant has opened up a new era for the development of raw materials and clean label solutions by accelerating product launches and improving customer collaboration flexibility. The plant has been incorporated into the Group's flagship raw material production base in La Plaine, Geneva, and adopts the highest safety and environmental standards, thereby reducing waste and energy consumption.
Genevieve Berger, Chief Research Officer of Firmenich, pointed out: “The new biotechnology pilot plant is closely connected to the raw material production base, achieving an integrated and seamless process from biotechnology development to finished products. Our Pilot plants and laboratories use new technologies to optimize clean label solutions, and the latest digital innovations maximize efficiency, thus entering a new era of raw material innovation."
Sarah Reisinger, senior vice president of research and operations at Firmenich, said: "Our new pilot plant has significantly improved flexibility to meet the diverse needs of customers in product development and can handle multiple projects simultaneously. , It can also produce test batches for formulation or testing and compliance verification on a small scale."
The pilot plant is the cornerstone of the development of new raw materials for flavors and fragrances, and can create high-quality and efficient production processes through biotechnology or natural extraction technology. The plant uses digital technology to improve the level of automation, enabling the transition from a single process to a batch process, increasing speed and efficiency, while reducing waste and energy consumption.
