7 pesticide manufacturing companies and 12 new active ingredients of pesticides have been registered worldwid

In 2022, 12 new pesticide active ingredients from 7 pesticide manufacturers were registered globally, including 3 fungicides, 5 insecticides and 4 herbicides. The general situation is as follows:

Syngenta

Fungicides/ Cyclobutrifluram（tradename:Tymirium）

It was first registered in El Salvador in May 2022, followed by a technical license in Argentina in August. In China, 86% of the active ingredient's TK and 450 g/L SC have been included in the 9th batch of proposed approval registration for 2022.

Approval of the registration is a significant achievement for Syngenta, which aims to use the product on more than 100 crops in more than 60 countries around the world. Tymirium has the mode of action of SDHI, in the chemical class of phenylethylp

Isocycloseram（tradename :Plinazolin）

In October 2022, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) recommended approval of the product Isocycloseram DC under the trade name Simodis. The first global registration of the product was approved in Argentina in November 2021 and the product will be available for sale in that country in 2022.

Syngenta also plans to launch an insect/mite killing product with the active ingredient, called Incipio, in Korea in 2023.

BASF

Dimpropyridaz（tradename :Axalion）

In October 2022, the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) approved the registration of the insecticide Efficon (Dimpropyridaz 120g/l), the first global registration of this product.

Basf expects initial sales of Dimpropyridaz in Australia and South Korea in 2023, in India in 2024, and in the European Union in 2026. Effico is used to control silver leaf whiteflies and greenhouse whiteflies on cotton, gourds and fruits and vegetables, aphids on brassica and green leafy vegetables, and cotton and gourd aphid.

Cinmethylin(tradename :Luximo）

In 2022, BASF obtained registration approval for its herbicide Cinmethylin (Luximo) in the United Kingdom (including England, Scotland and Wales, but excluding Northern Ireland). The active ingredient is still in the approval process in the EU and has not yet been approved. But the first global registration of the product was obtained in Australia in 2019.

Nihon Nohyaku

Benzpyrimoxan

In 2022 Nichino India, the Indian subsidiary of Nichino, obtained the registration of the product on rice, achieving the first registration of the product outside Japan (Japan approved the registration in 2020).

Pyraziflumid

Canada is expected to become the first market outside Japan to register the fungicide Pyraziflumid. The active ingredient is undergoing registration review in the US EPA, and the US subsidiary of Rinon has also submitted the registration application in Canada, which is expected to obtain the registration approval of the PMRA before the US. 

Oxazosulfyl (tradename: Alles)

In July 2022, Sumitomo obtained the registration of the active ingredient of the new pesticide in Japan and marketed two formulations. Oxazosulfyl belongs to a new chemical class, namely the Ethanesulfonamide  group, whose structure is characterized by its ethyl sulfonyl component. It is effective against a variety of pests.

 Nippon Soda

Ipflufenoquin

The product was first registered in Japan and involved three Ipflufenoquin products with active ingredient content of 20%, 10% and 8% respectively. The crops applied for registration included a variety of fruits, vegetables and paddy. On May 11, 2020, Japan's Cao Da submitted an application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for registration of Ipflufenoquin, including pome and drupe. In December 2022, the Canadian PMRA approved the registration of the product.

UPL

Flupyrimin

In 2022, UPL launched Flupyrimin, a pesticide from Meiji Seika Pharma that is used on paddy in India. The launch makes India the second country to get the product registered after Japan, which did so in 2019.

 KingAgroot

Flufenoximacil,Fluchloraminopy and Flusulfinam

In April 2022, three of KingAgroot's latest patented compounds -- the herbicide Flufenoximacil, Fluchloraminopyr and Flusulfinam -- were approved in Cambodia for the first time in the world. The three products have entered the final stage of domestic registration and will be launched in China in 2023-2024.
