Syngenta registered two active ingredients in the United States, Isocycloseram and Cyclobutrifluram
Syngenta recently announced that two of its innovative active ingredients, Isocycloseram and Cyclobutrifluram, are awaiting registration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use in the specialty solutions market. The two technologies, named under the PLINAZOLIN® and TYMIRIUM® brands respectively, mark another important step in Syngenta's agrochemical product innovation.
The head of Syngenta Specialty Solutions Americas said that the company is committed to developing solutions that meet the needs of customers in the turf, ornamental and professional pest management industries, and the introduction of these new active ingredients not only improves the level and scope of pest control, but also helps mitigate the problem of resistance, adding new vitality to Syngenta's existing product portfolio.
PLINAZOLIN® technology: A new option for rapid insect control
The PLINAZOLIN® technology, with its contact and feeding control methods, quickly stops the feeding behavior of insects, thereby rapidly controlling pests. The International Action Committee on Pesticide Resistance (IRAC) has listed Isocycloseram in Group 30 as non-cross-resistant to other insecticides and suitable for integrated pest control, and PLINAZOLIN® technology is expected to become an important tool for resistance management. Upon completion of EPA registration, PLINAZOLIN® technology will be available under the brand names Atexzo®, Vykenda® and Vanecto® in the turf, ornamental and professional pest management markets for:
Turf: Atexzo® insecticide for annual bluegrass bollweevils, mole crickets, bollweevils, caterpillars and European large mosquitoes.
Ornamental plants: Vykenda® insecticide, used to control thrips, mites, leaf miners, flea beetle, etc.
Professional pest management: Vanecto® Cockroach gel bait to control major cockroach species, including Blattella germanica and Periplaneta americana.
TYMIRIUM® technology: Both nematoidal and bactericidal
TYMIRIUM® technology will be introduced as a Trefinti® nematocide/fungicide in the turf and ornamental plant markets. It will provide control of Dorylaimus, root-knot nematodes and Anguina nematodes, and will be effective against spring dead spot disease and other soil-borne turf diseases. In ornamental plant production, the TYMIRIUM® technology will also provide control of Fusarium and powdery mildew.
Unlike previous molecules in its class, TYMIRIUM® technology is designed to selectively target harmful nematodes while protecting beneficial species that are critical to soil health and biodiversity.
