Azerbaijan issues new rules regulating trans fatty acids

foodmate 2023-03-01

On 20 February 2023, Azerbaijan's Food Safety Authority issued new rules regulating trans fatty acids. According to the rules, the trans fatty acid content of sealed and solid oils (except for natural trans fatty acids found in animal oils and fats) should not exceed 2% of the total fat content of the product. This record does not apply to kernel oil or cream oil. After the regulation takes effect, food entities must meet the requirements for the products in question within six months.
