BASF launches new exterior coating technology
Recently, BASF announced that it has introduced the innovative DURA-COLOR coatings anti-aging technology, which protects coatings over time and prevents them from aging. This revolutionary technology is designed to improve the long-lasting performance of exterior coatings, especially in terms of color retention and exterior cleaning.
According to BASF, the technology consists of three key innovative elements, namely the use of sequence-controlled polymerization, specific cross-linking methods and optimal reaction control. Polymer coatings based on the innovative technology elements achieve excellent color retention, stain resistance, weathering resistance and alkali resistance.
Exterior coatings are daily exposed to sunlight, rain, dust and pollutants, which tend to accelerate deterioration. Renovating a building is one way to give it a new lease on life, but it can be costly, complex and add to the overall carbon footprint. As a total building solutions specialist, BASF is committed to developing high-quality dispersions for coatings to meet these challenges.
To ensure product quality for different markets, BASF has been conducting outdoor exposure trials for more than two years in key countries such as Australia, China, India, Indonesia and the US. This unique polymer dispersion production technology has been successfully applied at BASF's Asia Pacific polymer dispersion plant, which is able to supply its products to local customers through its Asia Pacific manufacturing network.
