Chinese Acetone Market Went Down This Week (May 18-24, 2018)
The Chinese acetone market fluctuated down this week. Negotiation activities were limited. Up to May 24, 2018, closing prices for acetone in Jiangsu were around RMB 5,150/mt, down RMB 175/mt or 3.29% week on week. Some holders lacked confidence in the coming market and they sold goods actively. Negotiation prices inched down. The weak demand for acetone was the major reason for the declines in the acetone market. With the widen of spread between acetone market price and ex-works prices, the bearish sentiments became thick. Moreover, influenced by the environmental protection supervision, the downstream operating rate was not sufficient. Most uses purchased acetone on a need-to basis.
