It is possible to use acetone as an extracting solvent to dissolve organic solvents or oils from inedible parts of food products such as fruits, vegetables and others. This can be done through the following steps:
Step 1: Prepare a mixture of 10% acetic acid and 10% acetone in warm water. The mixture should be very warm so that it will melt fats effectively.
Step 2: Remove the shells or membranes of food products. The mixture that is prepared in step 1 will be used to dissolve the shells or membranes of food products such as fruits and vegetables.
3. As a degreasing agent
It can be used to remove grease from metal objects before painting or welding. This can be done by following these steps:
Step 1: Prepare a 50% acetic acid and acetone solution which is prepared in warm water. The temperature should be controlled using hot water bath and make sure that solution is not very hot so as not to melt metal objects.
Step 2: Place aluminum foil in the solution and let it stand for a few days.

4. As a dry-cleaning solvent
Acetone can be used as a dry-cleaning solvent to dissolve oils and grease before washing clothes, removing dirt or stains on carpets or cleaning other household products. 5.Preparation of Explosives

6. As a paint and varnish additive
It is also possible to use acetone in preparation of lacquers, varnishes and paints as an additive to enhance the drying time. It is important to note that acetone has been used as a solvent for cellulose nitrate which is used in preparation of explosives and lacquers.
7.Oil Clean-up
This is where it is possible to use acetone as a degreasing agent to remove grease and oil from metal objects before painting or welding. Acetone can be mixed with water at a ratio of 50% acetone to 50% water. This solution should be left for a few minutes before the preparation is done.
